Various people are involved in professional reintegration, making coordination and communication of vital importance. Managers, personnel officers, company medical officers, employees and our psychologists are all involved in the client’s recovery, requiring a well-coordinated, purposeful plan of action.
Method and schedule
As soon as the employee has sufficiently recovered and is capable of entering the reintegration track, Balans & Impuls will set up a ‘round-table discussion’. The client, company medical officer, manager and/or personnel officer and our psychologist all attend. This discussion seeks to prepare reintegration and provide feedback about the personal training course. In those cases in which Balans & Impuls is brought in when the reintegration process has already begun, we will respond as needed. We also stress the need for both the employee and the employer to keep an open mind and learn from the experience. The employer is responsible for reporting discussions.
The following points will be raised:
• Review — what are the causes of the client’s absenteeism, privately and professionally? What lessons might be learned, and how can they be applied in the work situation and be of use to the employee?
• Preview — what would be a good starting point for professional therapeutical work? Which professional activities correspond well with personal possibilities and limitations? What are the prerequisites for recovery and reintegration?
• Formulate aims and goals
These consultations provide mutual coordination and a purposeful approach to professional reintegration. It also enables employer and employee to comply to their obligations as required by law (‘Wet Poortwachter’). There is usually one ‘round-table discussion’, at the beginning of the personal reintegration training.
What role does Balans & Impuls play?
We specialize in the recovery and professional reintegration of employees who struggle with their work as a result of psychological complaints. For this purpose we offer several ‘personal training’ options. These trainings are led by a psychologist. In the frame of these trainings, we consider all people concerned to be our client, not just the employee who is directly involved. Our principle of ‘multiple partiality’ allows us to take into view the various interests of all those involved. The consultation will initiate mutual communication; it strives to stimulate the main mutual interest, which is successful professional reintegration.
Additionally, Balans & Impuls will provide concrete recommendations about tasks, taxability, and workcontext, as well as mode of managerial supervision. Balans & Impuls carries out research into the effectiveness of personal training (Dossier Effect Studie). The outcome of these studies is available on request.
